New Moon is destroying the Twilight record

Hot Fix has an article regarding how New Moon’s box office sales are crushing last year’s Twilight sales:

“After making another $14.3 million on Wednesday for a new U.S. total of $179 million, the question isn’t whether it will hit the $250 million mark it’s whether it can hit $300 million. Considering the first “Twilight” made only $192 million a year ago that would be a stunning achievement. The Chris Weitz blockbuster hardly skipped a beat leaving the frame’s three new wide releases far behind.”

As of today, New Moon has accumulated up to $188.4 million in the U.S. alone. So basically after this week is over, New Moon will surpass Twilight’s full theatrical release of $192 million within a little over a week.
