New Moon DVD Release Date Rumor- March 22nd?

A Twitter user/Twilight fan found a New Moon promotional card which lists a March 22nd release date for the release of the DVD. This was found in the United Kingdom.

You can see a photo of said card at this link.

Interestingly, the Twilight DVD was released in the US and UK on March 21st, 2009.

I think that this date could be very legit, as Twilight and New Moon have shared very similar release schedules.

Eclipse Hitting IMAX Theatres June 30th

Summit recently tweeted that Eclipse will be hitting IMAX theatres on June 30th. Collider also has an article with more info about this.

"IMAX Corporation (NASDAQ: IMAX; TSX: IMX) and Summit Entertainment announced today that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third film in the studio’s Twilight franchise, will be released to IMAX® theatres simultaneously with the film’s launch on June 30, 2010. Directed by David Slade (30 DAYS OF NIGHT, HARD CANDY) and starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will be digitally re-mastered into the unparalleled image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie. The film franchise is based on the book series by Stephenie Meyer.

Twilight moviegoers will have a whole new way to experience this next installment of the series, with the enhanced image and sound quality of The IMAX Experience putting them IN the movie,” said Richie Fay, Summit Entertainment’s President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution. “The IMAX release puts us on the event film calendar for 2010, and we’re very excited to work with IMAX to bring a new kind of film to the IMAX theatre network.”

Well you know where I'll be when Eclipse comes out! :D

New Moon DVD to be Released in February

According to an article on Yahoo!, the New Moon DVD will be released in February 2010. Quotage from an article commenting on Taylor’s new role in Max Steel:

Mattel also recently announced that they would be releasing a Taylor-inspired Jacob Black Barbie doll (with major plastic abs) when the “New Moon” DVD is released in February 2010.

Remember that the Twilight DVD hit store shelves in March of this year – just four months after the film release of Twilight? It looks like we may only have to wait three months for this one!

New Moon is destroying the Twilight record

Hot Fix has an article regarding how New Moon’s box office sales are crushing last year’s Twilight sales:

“After making another $14.3 million on Wednesday for a new U.S. total of $179 million, the question isn’t whether it will hit the $250 million mark it’s whether it can hit $300 million. Considering the first “Twilight” made only $192 million a year ago that would be a stunning achievement. The Chris Weitz blockbuster hardly skipped a beat leaving the frame’s three new wide releases far behind.”

As of today, New Moon has accumulated up to $188.4 million in the U.S. alone. So basically after this week is over, New Moon will surpass Twilight’s full theatrical release of $192 million within a little over a week.

Special thanks to the Twilight Lexicon for the scoop.

Summit Entertainment: Official Breaking Dawn Movie Information

In response to certain videos which pertain rumors about the production of Breaking Dawn, Summit Entertainment released this statement. Nothing else is official yet!

“Summit Entertainment looks forward to bringing “Breaking Dawn” to the big screen but at this point any additional information is premature.”

Chris Weitz Reveals New Moon DVD Details!

Chris Weitz talks to MTV about what we can find on the New Moon DVD:

Judging by the insatiable appetite of Twilighters, they’ll be filling DVD stores in the first quarter of 2010, eager to glimpse the deleted scenes Weitz plans to unveil for the first time.

“There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material,” he explained, promising some meaty footage. “It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans.”

Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows were shot but did not make the final “New Moon” cut, including:

» A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car, snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the nomadic vampire.

» A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.

» Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward’s car.

» More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.

» An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.

» Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick’s Jessica.

Countdown to Eclipse Begins!!

“But it’s really time we move on and reset our Twilight countdown for Eclipse. Today makes it about seven months and a week until our favorite gang of moody teenagers bring their tortured love triangle back to the big screen.

For now, all we’ve got is this new Eclipse poster, which hints that the third installment will be pretty cloudy. Ahhhhh! Cannot wait!”

New Moon Brings in $72.7 Million on Friday - Biggest Box Office Day Ever

"Offical Friday Gross = 72.7 Million

FRIDAY NUMBERS: Sources estimate that The Twilight Saga: New Moon took in $80M on Friday, setting a new all-time single day box office record.

Friday’s number includes the previously reported all-time record $26.27M in midnight screenings. This one-day total is also just barely below the $85M 3-day weekend estimate originally proffered by Summit and accepted by many industry insiders. Few expected the film to approach the $100M mark. My personal guess, which I made last Tuesday, was $110M. Based on the numbers already in, advance sales, and tracking polls, some are now predicting a $135M weekend. That wouldn’t top The Dark Knight’s $158.4M opening but would be the biggest non-summer 3-day opening weekend of all time. "
